Today is the day, we are heading off to Mykonos. Before I go I just wanted to share with you what I will be taking in my hand luggage...
The Bag
The Read
Whilst I love the feel of a good book as much as the next person I do also try to pack light and find it so much easier to just download a few books to my iPad. So much extra space for clothes & shoes!
I've downloaded Me Before You (Jojo Moyes) and The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k (Sarah Knight) as I have heard good things about both from a number of people. In all honesty I imagine I won't read too much as we are going away with four of our friends (two other couples) but I feel like I couldn't go on holiday without downloading a few new reads, just in case.
I have invested in this months Vogue too as I just find it's not the same reading a magazine from a screen. I much prefer a paper copy, you with me?!

The Beauty/Skincare
We all know that the air on aeroplanes dries out the skin and so the first thing to say is that I don't wear makeup to fly (except maybe a smidgeon of mascara) and always aim to stay well hydrated.
As I don't wear any makeup when flying I don't particularly need to cleanse mid flight. I do like to take my mini bottle of micellar water though just in case I'm feeling like I want to. I usually put a face oil on after take off, the one I use at the moment is from Tarte. I have a teeny bottle from Clarins that I had as a sample once and I find its just the perfect size to refill with my Tarte oil for travelling as you only need the tiniest bit and let it soak in for a soft complexion upon landing.
If I was going on a long haul flight I would replace the oil with Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream as it is just that bit thicker than the oil and so needs longer to soak in. It works like a mask of moisture but beware you will have a little bit of a shiny face. Some people find its too thick to be applied to the face but I don't mind that.
Before landing I usually use the micellar water to remove any excess oil or cream from my face then apply moisturiser. I'm loving Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Daily Moisturiser which also has SPF in so is perfect.
I always travel with my makeup in my hand luggage so if I wanted to apply before landing I could but I will be honest, I rarely do. I might add a bit of concealer and some lip balm though. The lip balm I'm loving at the moment is from L'occitane, it contains shea butter and is just so lovely on your lips. I do also have my Elizabeth Arden one (obviously I seem to have a bit of an obsession) which I always take on holiday as it has an SPF in so is perfect for wearing throughout the day, and protecting your lips from drying out in the sun.
I also carry both a hand sanitiser (Cuticura) and a hand cream (Crabtree & Evelyn). I find that some hand sanitisers can dry out your hands but this one from Cuticura doesn't seem to do that and has like a cucumber scent rather than smelling medical like some of them tend to.

The Airport List
I always write myself a little list of items I'm lusting after (usually makeup or a Jo Malone perfume) or essentials that I am about to run out of so that when I get to the airport I can be super efficient in picking up a few bits then can head straight to the lounge to relax before our gate it called.
Currently on the list: lip liner from Mac in the shade Staunchly Stylish (like a nude pink) Dior Star foundation, YSL mascara (false lash effect) & Touché Éclat (classic).
Is there anything else that you consider essential for your hand luggage/in-flight routine? I would love to hear about anything that I have missed. Let me know in the comments below...
