Staycation Series-Liverpool...I love this city!

Staycation: "A holiday spent in one's home country rather than abroad"

Last year I was lucky enough to go on quite a few holidays to some lovely places, you can read all about a few of those trips here; Mexico, Ios.

I have decided that this year I will make the effort to do more weekend trips in the UK. There is so much I haven't explored in my 28 years yet I find myself venturing to other countries pretty regularly.

Despite wanting to explore some unknown territory I thought I would begin with a city I know well. As you will probably have noticed (if you follow me on Instagram), I am from Liverpool so actually get to visit quite a lot. Usually, this is based around visiting family and friends,  fitting in events such as birthdays, christenings and weddings so I don't take the time to appreciate all that the city has to offer.

My recent visit was no different actually, as it was based around my lovely cousin's 30th birthday, however as she also doesn't live in Liverpool anymore and because there was a big group of girls travelling, we decided to book somewhere in the city centre so as to make the most of our night. We stayed at The ArtHouse Hotel which is ideally located on Seel Street, walking distance from some of my favourite bars.

The hotel is movie themed and we stayed in the Wizard of Oz room...

The room was filled with the comfiest large double beds and plenty of plush velvet, as you would expect if you have ever stayed at a Signature Living hotel before. They specialise in hotels for parties or larger groups, the bathroom had a HUGE tub in (sorry I forgot to take pictures of the that).

This wasn't the first  Signature Living hotel that I have stayed at, I actually had my hen party at their Morgan's Vault which is in the historical 30 James Street buildings and just like that, this visit didn't disappoint.

The staff are all super friendly and I honestly couldn't recommend these hotels enough. I have recently found out that they have actually bought Alma de Cuba, one of my favourite bars in Liverpool, and plan to build onto this to develop some apartments/hotel rooms also. Super excited about visiting there once it's complete!

As you can imagine, this particular trip was more about catching up with the girls and the three D's:

Dinner, Drinks & Dancing

We ate at Lucha Libre to fill up on some Mexican Street Food to line our stomachs. The sharer taco trays  and 'dirty fries' are to die for!

Next, we moved onto a few bars for drinks and dancing;  Revolution (St Peter's Square) and Peacocks . We did have intentions of hitting a few other faves such as Alma (mentioned above), Heebie Jeebies and Brooklyn Mixer but we just kept getting caught on the dance floor by great songs. If you go for a night out though I would recommend adding these to your list. In general you should avoid Concert Square, it's usually where large hen parties, stag do's and students tend to culminate.

The hotel is located a stones throw away from Bold Street where there are many a cute place for breakfast and coffee. Leaf is one of my favourites that I would recommend for brunch, they have comfy sofas and huge windows so you can catch up with friends while watching the world go by.

The next day most of the girls headed off to make their way home early so we didn't get around to doing much else as a result, for those interested I would recommend:

-A trip to the Albert Dock (anything close to water gets my vote and there are beautiful buildings to stroll around/stop for a coffee and people watch) you can wander along the water front and take in some of Liverpool's beautiful architecture.

-Either (or both) of the Cathedrals (they are both so different and beautiful in their own way)

-A stroll down Mathew Street (for The Beatles fans) which is steeped in history.

I have realised while writing this that there is actually so much more I could say about (and more pictures I need to take of) Liverpool that I will need to follow up with another post. If there is anything in particular you would like to know then please comment below.

For my next staycations I have trips to Edinburgh and Brighton planned, both of which I am super excited about. If you have any tips on the best places to go for either of these then please let me know your suggestions!
